Jessica McMorrow Stefanov

Jessica McMorrow-Stefanov founded Briora Ballroom together with her husband and dance partner, Slava Stefanov, with the vision of creating more than just a dance studio. Together, they set out to build a joyful community where people experience fun, connection, confidence, and personal growth through dancing. Today, that vision continues to shape every aspect of Briora Ballroom.

For more than 25 years, Jessica has devoted her life to the art of dance. Recognized for her elegant movement, refined technique, and deeply musical style, she is especially known for blending the grace of classical ballet with the technical precision of championship ballroom dancing. Her teaching emphasizes not only strong fundamentals, but also artistry, partnership, musicality, and the confidence that allows students to dance with freedom and joy.

Jessica specializes in American Smooth, American Rhythm, Argentine Tango, ballroom fundamentals, and competitor coaching. She enjoys working with dancers of every level—from complete beginners taking their very first lesson to advanced students preparing for performances and competitions—and believes that every student deserves exceptional instruction in a welcoming and encouraging environment.

As a professional competitor, Jessica ranked among the top American Smooth dancers in the United States. She was a United States National Professional Finalist in both Rising Star Smooth (2015) and Professional 9-Dance (2008, 2009). Internationally, Jessica and Slava ranked among the world's top Professional American Smooth couples, earning semifinal placements at the World Professional Open Smooth Championships at Embassy Ball in both 2014 and 2015.

Following their retirement from competitive Dancesport, Jessica and Slava have continued their artistic journey through Argentine Tango, where they remain passionate students, performers, and teachers. Their commitment to lifelong learning continues to influence Briora's teaching philosophy, combining technical excellence with creativity, musicality, and genuine human connection.

Jessica is certified through Dance Vision and the U.S. Terpsichore Association in American Smooth, American Rhythm, International Standard, International Latin, and Theater Arts. She is passionate about helping students develop beautiful movement, strong technique, and authentic self-expression while discovering the many personal benefits that dance brings to everyday life.

Jessica's own dance journey began at the age of seven with classical ballet. She trained extensively in the conservatory program at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts, where she developed the discipline, artistry, and attention to movement quality that continue to define her dancing and teaching today.

In addition to her dance career, Jessica graduated summa cum laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in History. She was named the Outstanding Graduating History Major and received the Dean's Medal in the Social Sciences in recognition of her academic achievement.

When she is not dancing, Jessica enjoys gardening, yoga, and spending time with Slava and their two young sons. A lifelong resident of the Seattle area, she is grateful to share her passion for dance while helping others discover confidence, friendship, and the lifelong joy of movement.
